In Design Built Concepts Profile Qu’qu-la Gallery
Description
Qu’qu-la is constructed primarily of timber, reinforced concrete, granite quarried from the site and walls of high efficiency, double glazed glass. It features soaring cantilevered living spaces anchored in solid rock – and appears to float above the rocky shore and pebble beach below. The cantilevered planes of the house are supported by large glue-laminated timbers, which branch off rough granite rock walls.
The granite creates natural stone walls that have been integrated in their raw natural state into the living areas capturing the immediacy of their texture and color. The entire house opens through large glass panels connecting the inside with the sensual immediacy of the beach and water below.
